Uptown is the central business district of Charlotte. It is home to most of the city's major institutions, as well as being the historic core. Why is it called “Uptown”? “This was the highest elevation point, and the city grew around it. Several Fortune 500 companies have their headquarters here, including Bank of America, Duke Energy, and the East Coast operations of Wells Fargo. You can also find Bank of America Stadium– home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers, Spectrum Center– home of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets, BB&T Ballpark– home of the International League's Charlotte Knights, and the NASCAR Hall of Fame. 16,500 people are living in Uptown as of 2016. The median age is 32.7 making uptown a hot spot for millennial's.

Local Hotspots

You aren’t really in Uptown if you haven’t hit the many places off South Tryon St. Some spots that we love:

  • Zablong- One of the team’s favorite pizza places in the city is located in the French Quarter. You can create your own pizza and choose from a variety of options for only $10.99. Sit outside and enjoy the weather.

  • The King’s Kitchen- This place has a great food and an even better mission! Created to hire ex-cons to help transition back into society. The atmosphere is amazing and located in the heart of Uptown. Must visit.

  • Epicenter- Is the center for nightlife and entertainment for Charlotte. We love to hang here in the spring and summer for the rooftop parties. Whatever mood you are in you can find something to do at the epicenter.

We-Works: If you are familiar with co-working spaces in BIG cities then you should know about WeWorks. With floor to ceiling windows and outdoor balcony. WeWork has 46,000 square feet on the 8th and 9th floor of 615 South College Street
